October 11, 1954, Near Taupigna, France:
The Taupignac UFO Encounter
During France's extraordinary UFO wave of 1954, three motorists reportedly witnessed a mysterious spacecraft and four small humanoid beings near Taupignac, in southwestern France.
At approximately 7:30 p.m., the men were driving between Royan and Breuillet when they noticed a brilliant reddish-orange glow. Investigating, they reportedly spotted a silent, disc-shaped object approximately 20 feet wide, hovering 30 feet above the ground before disappearing behind nearby trees.
Two of the men followed the object into a wooded area, where they allegedly discovered it resting in a clearing. Standing nearby were four humanoid figures approximately three feet tall, apparently performing some unknown activity around the craft.

As the witnesses approached within 15 meters, the beings reportedly rushed inside. Moments later, the craft erupted in dazzling blue, orange, and red lights before shooting vertically into the night sky at tremendous speed, without making a sound.
The encounter became part of France's famous 1954 UFO wave and was later discussed by UFO researchers, including Aimé Michel and Jacques Vallée. However, the witnesses remained anonymous, no physical evidence was verified, and the incident's exact date remains disputed, with October 4 and October 11, 1954, both appearing in accounts.
