October 3, 1958 - Indiana, USA:

The Monon Railroad UFO Incident.

In the early morning of October 3, 1958, the five-man crew of Monon Railroad freight train No. 91 reported a remarkable encounter while traveling south through Indiana toward Indianapolis.

Around 3:20 a.m., the crew spotted four bright white objects moving in a V-shaped formation near the tracks. The objects crossed ahead of the locomotive before circling back and passing over the train. Crew members described them as large, round or disc-like objects with glowing, fuzzy edges.

For the next 70 minutes, the mysterious objects reportedly paced the train, repeatedly approaching, changing formation, and accelerating away before returning. Conductor Ed Robinson and flagman Paul Sosbey, watching from the caboose, estimated the objects were roughly 30–40 feet across and only a few hundred feet above them.

At one point, Robinson aimed a powerful flashlight toward the objects. According to his account, they immediately moved out of the beam and scattered when he tried again. Even when the train stopped at Frankfort, the lights reportedly remained nearby before resuming their pursuit when the train continued. Near Kirklin, the objects finally accelerated toward the northeast and disappeared.

The case was later investigated by prominent UFO researcher James E. McDonald, who interviewed several crew members. Although no photographs, radar records, or physical evidence are known to exist, the case remains notable because five railroad employees reportedly witnessed four unexplained objects follow their train for roughly 38 miles and more than an hour.
