The Rayones Incident
On September 22, 2004, a bizarre photograph was reportedly taken at approximately
10:45 p.m. in Rayones, Nuevo León, Mexico. According to the story, a security guard exploring an abandoned building photographed a strange humanoid figure lurking in the darkness.
The pale, extremely thin figure appears to have an oversized head, large black eyes, a narrow neck, and slender body, closely resembling the classic description of a “Grey” alien. The photograph was reportedly taken with a Kodak EasyShare DX4530 digital camera.

Despite the image's disturbing appearance, very little can be verified about its origins. No original camera file, identified photographer, police report, or contemporary investigation has surfaced publicly. Even the circumstances surrounding the photograph vary between later accounts.
The image eventually became well known within UFO circles and has been discussed by author Whitley Strieber, among others. However, without the original photograph and a documented chain of custody, there is no reliable way to determine whether the figure was genuine, staged, or digitally manipulated.
Today, the Rayones photograph remains an eerie piece of UFO folklore—memorable for what it appears to show, but weakened by the lack of verifiable evidence surrounding it.
